What is stress? 

 Would you know if you are stressed and anxious? Take the quiz. 

Our guess is that you probably are feeling stressed and/or anxious. Or maybe you're worried about someone you know.

The good news is, you really aren't alone in this - most people experience a level of stress at some time in their lives. 


What is stress?

Stress is defined as a demand placed on your brain or physical body. What causes stress in one person can be very different in another. It's subjective - there is no wrong or right and no 'diagnosis' as such. For example, an athlete might not feel that a weekend spent helping their elderly Nanna move house is a physical stress. 

But someone who has a desk job and does only light exercise, if any at all, is more likely to feel the activity was physically taxing or stressful. 

However, it really seems to be the brain that is under attack from stress in today's world. P


People can report feeling stressed when multiple competing demands are placed on them. The feeling of being stressed can be triggered by an event that makes you feel frustrated or nervous. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, worry, or unease. It can be a reaction to stress, or it can occur in people who are unable to identify significant stressors in their life.
